This was one of those hopeless cases. You know – the one which lies there in the pile of unfinished work and just waits. But the only thing you can do seeing it: sigh, “What shall I do with YOU?!” Ugh.
That was the time when I first started to experiment with abstract aquarelle. When I tried to take off the control of my hand and be more spontaneous and brave with strokes and splashes. That was also the time I needed to learn how to be patient while the first layer dries.

Sounds like a dream, doesn’t it?! Spoiler alert : it wasn’t quite as relaxing as you would like to imagine.😅
So we went on a family trip to Canary islands, Fuerteventura to be precise back in September. Obviously I wasted to be a badass productive creature there. I took some sheets paper, couple of brushes and colors with me.

My name is Viktorija but you can call me Vik.
Originally from Latvia but now Berlin based artist who accidentally has found a surrounding which had helped to discover and embrace parts of myself which previously were quite restrained.
Some time of my life I was doubting certain passions I had. Especially when it came to self expression.
Last couple of years the diversity of the city has helped me to be more brave and follow the paths I wanted to. Connecting with like minded people – people who can listen, understand, support and believe in me was the biggest push to restart to paint again.

No really – I’m asking myself this every time I create something, then step back and am like:
Umm.. Why?!
This sucks!
What shall I do with this now?!
I can’t frame it!
…
The truth is.. in theory it says that contrast is a powerful tool. True. Indeed. Contrast can be used to create a better composition, to create a dynamic, to draw attention to the focal point etc.
In my case : I have no idea. Honestly. The eyes see and the hand grabs the brush and just sticks it in some paint which is attractive to me at that certain point. No plan. No prediction. Pure creative flow.
